Mistral AI Raises €3 Billion at $24 Billion Valuation

French artificial intelligence company Mistral has raised €3 billion in a new funding round, bringing its valuation to approximately €21 billion, or about $24 billion.

According to Reuters, the funding round is the largest equity raise secured by a privately owned European technology company. The round was led by existing investor PSG Equity alongside Samsung Electronics and the EU-backed Scaleup Europe Fund.

Mistral, founded in France in 2023, has quickly become one of Europe's most prominent artificial intelligence companies. The company develops advanced AI models and has positioned itself as a European alternative to major U.S. AI companies.

The new funding will support Mistral's continued development of AI models and frontier research. The additional capital comes as competition between AI companies continues to intensify across the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Mistral's growing valuation also highlights the increasing investment in European artificial intelligence. The company is becoming an important part of Europe's effort to develop advanced AI technology and reduce dependence on technology providers outside the region.

Mistral expects its annual recurring revenue to reach approximately $1 billion by the end of 2026, according to Reuters.
